New BDC Member Brings Education and Community Involvement to the Forefront at EOC Tech Center
Megan Bain joined the Business Development Center at EOC Tech as the new Business Development and Training Coordinator in the Spring of 2024 and immediately took on the role of liaison between the EOC Tech BDC and Oklahoma County residents, business owners and organizations, working to build connections and provide resources meant to encourage growth and enrichment.
Bain received her Bachelor’s of Science in Organizational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, OK and was first introduced to the Business Development Sector when she took a job with Chesapeake Energy and worked in Business Development & Acquisitions as a Mineral Analyst. After her time at Chesapeake, she decided to switch career paths and enter into the field of education and spent 9 years as an elementary school teacher.
“I taught 2nd grade at Mid-Del elementary for four years and 4th grade at Westfall Elementary for five years,” she said. “After 9 years of teaching, I missed the business world and went back into business development, working at the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce as the Membership and Marketing Director and then at Mid-Del Technology Center as the Workforce Development Coordinator.”
When the opportunity came about for Bain to apply at EOC Tech as the Business Development and Training Coordinator, she said the decision to apply was simple.
“My son and my daughter attended programs here at EOC Tech,” she said. “I knew this was a great place and the opportunity to combine both education and community service really appealed to me and my personality.”
As EOC Tech’s Business Coordinator, Bain works to develop and coordinate Short-Term classes and career enhancement courses, as well as provide personal enrichment classes.
The Adult Career Development courses that Bain works to organize and implement consist of over 30 different types of training from General Interest areas, Creative Arts and Crafts to Healthcare and IT/Business courses.
“My goal is to make strong connections with business owners, community organizations, and all residents within Eastern Oklahoma County,” she said “My previous experience within both the education and business realm has provided me with the experience, knowledge, and connections to excel in my position here at EOC Tech.
Bain is a proud mom of three and recently acquired the title of “Empty Nester.” Even so, her most valued moments are spent with her family whether it be on the lake, at the movies, or pool-side.
